This summer, older people in Gateshead have the chance to take part in a unique new initiative supported by the NHS. It is a chance for people to focus on their won health as well as help the NHS take notice of people's views and improve services.

The training course will give people the skills and confidence to connect with their communities, helping them have a strong voice in local healthcare.

The course runs over five Fridays in May and June. There are 16 places on offe for local people aged 65+.

If you are interested in promoting this opportunity to those using your services, you can use this booklet.

The Vanguard team are also looking for enthusiastic individuals to sit on the steering group along with professionals. The aim of the steering group is to oversee the programme to ensure the programme is delivered in the right way and present solutions to the delivery of the programme as we go. This group will also look at evaluation intentions, how we measure success of the programme and how we ensure it is sustainable in the future. Please contact the team to discuss.
